New layout for many main sections

A new layout was implemented recently for some of the main sections of our site.

Check out the Holidays, Audio Classes, Video, Library, Lifecycles, Society & Living, Ideas & Beliefs and Spirituality sections.

The new layout lists the sub-sections in a two-column format; contains a box for recent comments in the section, and has a built-in search for this particular section.

We hope that this new layout makes is easier to browse the site.

While we are on topic, it's important to mention that we also split the Audio/Video section into two sections, an Audio Classes section and a Video section. This split should help you find the content you are looking for easier.

Recent Upgrades to the Centers Directory

It's been a week or two since the last post - not because nothing is going on. Actually, a lot is.

This past week was the annual convention of Chabad-Lubavitch shluchim. You can read all about it at these links:

There was even a live broadcast of the main event, the banquet. Check out the comments there.

While we are on this topic, I will point out two recent upgrades to the Centers Directory.

Firstly, we are added a feature to display local times of a center. Since Chabad is international - and is open to help anybody, you may not realize that the number you are calling while looking at the listing in the directory is halfway across the world. We list the local time to there to help you plan your call accordingly. Click here for a sample.

We also began displaying the mailing address Centers. In many cases, especially international locations, the mailing address to send correspondence may be different that the physical location. We don't want you walking to the Post Office for services! Check out this example.

I'll be posting soon about some other new updates to the site...

The Lawnchair Guy

It’s back! Chabad.org has launched the Itche Kadoozy Show’s latest series with its first episode, The Lawnchair Guy. While Jono is looking for a new adventure, Rabbi Itche realizes that his Synagogue is deteriorating... We don’t want to ruin it for you, so all we’re going to say is "hilarity ensues".

This series comes on the heels of a number of successful series’, the most recent being The Quest for Fish. The series documents the adventures of Rabbi Itche, Jono and his pet gefilte fish G-Fish on their quest to help G-Fish find his root.
