A new posting in an ongoing archive project by
Jewish Educational Media, a Chabad-Lubavitch organization tasked with preserving and disseminating the video and audio recordings of the Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, of righteous memory, allows visitors to
TheRebbe.org to browse through thousands of images of people who met the Rebbe outside of his office at Lubavitch World Headquarters.
The pictures, dated October 13, 1991, are part of footage of the sessions when the Rebbe distributed crisp dollar bills to individuals for them to give to the charity of their choice.
At the distributions, which lasted for six years, many took the opportunity to ask for the Rebbe’s advice or blessings.
The latest posting, which allows people to identify friends and family members, as well as purchase a DVD of their "Moment with the Rebbe," was unveiled in time for the 106th anniversary of the Rebbe’s birth.
It includes some 2,814 images of more than 3,000 people, representing a cross section of the Jewish nation.
TheRebbe.org is a joint project of
JEM and
Chabad.org.
